"This messy tussled high ponytail can bring a whole new funk to a more formal or classic look and outfit," says Sergio Delgado, Senior Stylist for Devachan LA. "It's very effortless, but still intentional and polished. You can refine curls at the ends using a pomade like DevaCurl's Beautiful Mess ($20; sephora.com)."

Here's how: First, use a curling iron to curl your hair all over. Using banana clips, pin the curls up for a few seconds to cool, then take down once they're ready. Comb the hair to the side and secure it with pins, then brush or comb any flyaways and secure that area with a little holding spray. Then create a few finger waves using Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Nourishing & Conditioning Styling Foam ($12; carolsdaughter.com), securing them in place with banana clips. Blow hair dry at a cool temperature for a few minutes to set the waves. Then remove the clips and use hairspray to hold everything together.

Jessica Szohr brings an edge factor to the glamorous side-swept look, typically worn with a smooth wave. "Pin back a side using bobby pins, then shake out the curls to make your own spin on a classic," advises Delgado.

Black-ish star Yara Shahidi's curls are defined, elongated, and well nourished. To achieve her gorgeous spirals, McLemore recommends using the Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage Curl Defining Cream Glaze ($10; softsheen-carson.com). "This anti-shrinkage line contains mango oil, which will give your hair all-day hydration and shine and bamboo milk to help give it stretch, so you're able to gain height in the crown," she says.

First, spray your hair with water to get the natural curl pattern refreshed. Then you'll want to apply Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Refresher Spray ($11; carolsdaughter.com) as well, for curl rejuvenation. Taking a few pieces at a time, use some of Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Nourishing and Conditioning Styling Pudding ($12; carolsdaughter.com) on the hair to help bring the curls to life. Comb through the hair to ensure the product has been evenly distributed, then, using your blow dryer with a diffuser attached, dry the hair until it is 98 percent dry. For the other 2 percent, bend over to dry hair upside down, which will add more volume to the hair. Still bent over, take your hands and fluff the hair out until it's at its desired fullness. Flip your hair and head back over to adjust the curls exactly to how you want them. Then you'll need to take a small brush with the Carol's Daughter Black Vanilla Edge Control Smoother ($8; carolsdaughter.com) and tame the small baby hairs.

"Miss Tracee Ellis Ross is always rockin' her big beautiful hair! If you can't fight the volume, embrace it," says Delgado. "To achieve this look, use a strong-hold, but light-weight, product like Devacurl Light Defining Gel and diffuse your ringlets until they're 50 percent dry. Follow that with hairspray, shake, and separate curls, then let them do their thing!"

To get singer-songwriter Cam's modernized curly updo, Delgado recommends pinning up the back curls, creating a short-haired look that can be incorporated with twists or braids for more polish. Leaving the bangs and face-framing tendrils out also softens the style, showing off the natural texture of your curls.

If your strands are on the fine side like Charlize's, apply a plumping cream liberally throughout the middle of the hair to the ends, to give curls frizz-free volume. Try Toni & Guy Glamour Volume Plumping Whip ($15; target.com).

Hair clips are a cute way to style your hair. Some hair clip trends have been holding up over the years, and others include some of the latest styles. These hair clips work great for all hair types, including textured and curly hair types.

This old-school hair clip is similar to regular plastic claw clips. The difference is the placement of the hinge. Plastic banana clips usually have one hinge all the way at the end. The hinge placement lets it fit more claws in the middle, holding more hair.

If you choose to wear plastic banana clips, be careful. Craft your hairstyle with caution, and avoid wearing them at night. Try to keep them in for a short period of time to avoid the building of static electricity and friction. Only wear them every once in a while to avoid long-term damage.

Most stretchy banana clips come in the shape of two combs. If you have problems with headaches, stretchy clips work much better! They do not tug and pull at the hair, and they gently hold your hair in place.

Long hair and extensions work great with a ponytail clip. They come in all sorts of decorative styles to add a little something extra. If you are tired of the old, boring curly ponytail, find a ponytail clip to add flair to your look.

There are many versions of hair barrettes. For example, the French barrette comes with a hinge at the end. It usually has plastic on top and metal on the bottom. They hold to the scalp amazingly well and are easy to include in pristine hairstyles.

Prong curl clips style your hair without heat. They hide easily in thick hair and work for dozens of different styles. They are totally flat with no teeth or waves. Their flat style minimizes damage and lets women use them over the long-term.

We have used the curls as is, and we have also incorporated them as a base for several hairstyle combos. In this tutorial, my daughter Brooklyn simply added a simple daisy accented headband as an accessory.

British fashion designer Mary Quant may have invented the miniskirt and popularized the mod style in the 60s, but it was her friend Vidal Sassoon who created her revolutionary 5-point wedge bob (below). Sassoon became world-famous for his precise, geometric, architectural hairstyles that drew attention to the neck, and Quant was an early, fabulous muse.

With curlers or a straightening iron, anyone can get perfect curls, even if your hair is naturally straight, not curly. The results are worth the effort, even if you have to factor in extra time for styling. No problem for special occasions, but most women prefer minimal effort for every day. Usually, mornings don't allow for excessive styling sessions. Curly hair with minimal effort? No problem with these simple tricks:4 top tips: Curls in a flash for busy women

Wash hair with shampoo and conditioner the evening before, knead in a hazelnut-sized portion of mousse and allow to dry a little. Weave several braids and tie with elastic hair bands. Blow dry on a low setting, until the braided strands are almost dry. Untie braids the next morning and loosen with your fingers, then knead in a texturising balm. Use hairspray for additional hold and as a finish. Easy curls: done!

To create easy beach waves: wash hair in the evening, use a texturising spray and blow dry until hair is almost dry. Draw a central parting and partition hair into two sections. Twist each section and tie into a Bun. Alternatively, you can also tie all your hair into a single topknot. Untie in the morning and knead curls from the roots, shape and set with hairspray.

Long hair is relatively easy to turn into relaxed waves with a curling iron. First spray a heat protectant into hair and then twist individual strands around the wand. Hold for about five seconds before moving on to the next strand. For a natural finish, comb hair very carefully. For extra hold, use hair gel with shine.

Women over 50 should not be afraid to go longer; no rule says you have to chop hair off at a certain age! Let natural curls do their thing, or use a large barrel to create loose, flowing curls for mid-length hair. The look is timeless and universally appealing and can be especially striking if you choose to let any gray show.

Curled hair looks gorgeous in this best-of-both-worlds hairstyle. Add some volume at the root and pull back the very top layer, leaving the rest of your curls to cascade down and steal the show! This look can work well for cuts that are a bit too short for a full ponytail or up-do with the help of a few bobby pins.

Women over 50 with curly hair often have thick, heavy locks. Try the inverted bob cut with lots of layers in the back, perfect for showing off those gorgeous curls. This hairstyle still offers some length around the face, so it is perfect for those who are only ready to dip their toes in the waters of a shorter cut.

Allow curls to spill out of this messy ponytail and frame the face, creating an effortlessly cool look for women over 50. Dress it up or down whenever you feel like having your hair pulled back and out of the way. Who said ponytails are only for younger women?!

Curly hairstyles work wonderfully with lots of layers so that curls are not all piled up on top of each other, creating bulk. Try adding in long shaggy layers on a short to medium-length cut with looser waves for a bohemian, easy-going effect.

Think old Hollywood glamour with this elegant curly hairdo! These large, smooth curls are best achieved with a large barrel wand or curling iron. Add in a gloss for shine, and extra-deep side part, then allow the fuller curled side to spill over your shoulder. Glam!

Now girls with curly or wavy hair would love this Banana clip hair style for your long to medium manes. Just bring all the hair at the nape of your neck and slide the clip from the bottom. Spread the hair throughout the length of the clip and lock the clip at the top.

We have the tendency to wear the banana clip vertically. But we can also wear it horizontally and it creates an illusion of fuller hair. Gather all the hair at the back of our head and secure them with a banana clip. Instead of placing it vertically, wear it horizontally and it still looks effortlessly stylish and gives a neat look. This is the ideal banana clip hairstyles for short hair.

There is no one rule to go about the banana comb hairstyle. All you need is a creative mind that is passionate about hairstyle. You may twist and pin and curl your hair and dress your hair with your favorite hair accessory in prolific ways.
