Method 1: Change the System Date

This method works only if you are using a trial version of Deep Freeze or a licensed version that has expired. The idea is to change the system date to a time when Deep Freeze is not active, and then uninstall it normally. Here are the steps:

  • Reboot your computer and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the key indicated on the screen (usually F2, F10, F12, or Del).

  • Find the option to change the system date and set it to at least 10 years ahead or behind the current date. For example, if today is September 3, 2023, you can change it to September 3, 2033 or September 3, 2013.

  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS setup.

  • When your computer boots up, press and hold the Shift key and double-click the Deep Freeze icon on the system tray. You should be able to open the Deep Freeze settings without entering a password.

  • Select the option to boot thawed and apply the changes.

  • Restart your computer and uninstall Deep Freeze from the Control Panel or by running its installer again.

Method 2: Replace the Persi0.sys File

This method involves replacing the Persi0.sys file, which stores the Deep Freeze password, with another one that has a known password. You will need another computer with the same version of Deep Freeze installed and a bootable USB drive with Windows PE or any other Windows live system. Here are the steps:

  • On another computer with Deep Freeze installed, open the Deep Freeze settings and set a password that is easy to remember, such as 1234.

  • Reboot the computer and boot from the USB drive with Windows PE or any other Windows live system.

  • Open the drive where Windows is installed (usually C:) and locate the Persi0.sys file. It may be hidden or protected, so you may need to enable viewing hidden files and disable read-only attributes.

  • Copy the Persi0.sys file to your USB drive as a backup.

  • On the computer where you forgot the Deep Freeze password, reboot it and boot from the USB drive with Windows PE or any other Windows live system.

  • Open the drive where Windows is installed (usually C:) and locate the Persi0.sys file. Delete it or rename it to something else.

  • Paste the Persi0.sys file from your USB drive to replace the original one.

  • Reboot your computer and open the Deep Freeze settings by pressing and holding the Shift key and double-clicking the Deep Freeze icon on the system tray. Enter 1234 as the password (or whatever password you set on another computer).

  • Select the option to boot thawed and apply the changes.

  • Restart your computer and uninstall Deep Freeze from the Control Panel or by running its installer again.

Method 3: Use Anti Deep Freeze

This method uses a software called Anti Deep Freeze, which can disable Deep Freeze without requiring a password. You can download it from [here]. Here are the steps:

  • Download Anti Deep Freeze from [here] and extract it to a folder on your computer.

  • Run ADF7.exe if you have version 7 of Deep Freeze or ADF.exe if you have version 6 or below.

  • Select Start New from the menu and click OK.

  • A message will appear saying that Anti Deep Freeze has disabled Deep Freeze. Click OK.

  • Reboot your computer and open the Deep Freeze settings by pressing and holding the Shift key and double-clicking the Deep Freeze icon on the system tray. You should be able to access it without a password.

  • Select the option to boot thawed and apply the changes.

  • Restart your computer and uninstall Deep Freeze from the Control Panel or by running its installer again.

Conclusion

In this article, we have shown you three methods to remove Deep Freeze password and uninstall it without using any third-party Deep Freeze password remover. We hope you find them useful and easy to follow. However, we recommend that you always remember your Deep Freeze password and use it responsibly to protect your computer from unwanted changes.
